Wind Instruments

The performance of music has been central to Ian’s life since he was in high school. Ian has gained perspective from a broad range of musical experiences. As a performer, he has been a member of a nationally acclaimed musical, has played many gigs in a small jazz group, and has participated in many academic and audition-based wind ensembles. Ian knows how frustrating the challenge of a physical instrument can feel, as he has undergone embouchure change. This has brought him wisdom on how to develop a healthy relationship with practice and performance of music. As a teacher, he shares the mindset of effortlessness, joy, and improvisation in order to make music a place where people can liberate and explore themselves.
