Eric Hackett is a dynamic and accomplished keyboardist with decades of experience in live performances, studio recordings, and musical direction. Having collaborated with legendary artists—including Diana Ross, the Temptations, the Four Tops, and Curtis Mayfield—he brings a wealth of industry knowledge and professional expertise to his teaching practice.
A graduate of the University of Southern California with a B.M. in Music Theory (1973), Eric’s formal training underpins his versatile skill set. He is adept at a wide range of musical genres, from Motown and soul to R&B and funk. Over the years, he has honed his ability to arrange and execute complex musical pieces, ensuring high-quality sound and an engaging experience for any audience.
Eric also served as Music Director for prestigious cruise lines such as Norwegian, Holland America, Seabourn, and Royal Caribbean (2005–2015). In these roles, he led and managed diverse music programs, directed large ensembles, and coordinated performances tailored to thousands of guests from various cultural backgrounds. This breadth of experience underscores his strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
As a music teacher, Eric is passionate about sharing the joy and discipline of music with aspiring musicians. His teaching approach focuses on building a solid theoretical foundation while fostering creativity and self-expression. Whether teaching beginner keyboard techniques or advanced music composition, Eric’s goal is to inspire students to reach their fullest potential and develop a lifelong appreciation for music.
