Rosie Elwing

Roshanna “Rosie” Elwing was born and raised in Reno, NV. She holds a B.A. in Vocal Performance from the University of Nevada, Reno, and graduated in 2013. Rosie is currently pursuing her Master's in Music Education at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has also completed coursework in Music Therapy from Saint Mary of the Woods College, Indiana, and is awaiting an internship.
Rosie is also employed as a Pre-K teacher’s aid with Washoe County School District where she practices and provides classroom support of trauma-informed curriculum. It is her desire to utilize her Music Therapy license and Music Education degree to better serve Washoe County and its families. Rosie serves on the Special Needs CommUNITY of Northern Nevada board as their adaptive music and dance coordinator.
In 2011, Rosie earned her Minor in French through UNR’s USAC program at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour in Pau, France. From 2007- 2009, she attended Biola University’s Conservatory of Music where she earned her Associate’s Degree under the direction of Dr. Susan Ali. From 2004-2007 she studied Vocal Performance, Dance, Theatre, and Musical Theatre at Truckee Meadows Community College under the direction of Theodore Owens and Dr. William Tell Gifford.
Rosie currently sings in the choir at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northern Nevada where she has previously worked as an interim music director.
When she is not participating in musical events, Rosie enjoys being outdoors, preferably in a forest or Glass Beach, Fort Bragg. She loves exploring mythologies and religions of other countries and cultures. She also enjoys true crime podcasts and the show “Unsolved Mysteries”.
